[It's fortunate that Blake happens to catch the writing on the way out for a jog, because he usually doesn't bother with that particular mirror, but he just happened to be having a pretty good hair day, and well...]
[He does. One by one, books pass through the glass, and for a minute there, they show no sign of stopping. It's almost a comical amount, and one really has to wonder how he managed to haul all those over there by himself, especially with the vines presenting an issue.
The first five or six are the thickest, huge tome-like psychology textbooks. Two are classic novels. One is a manual on window repair. Two are theoretical physics, one is astronomy, another is philosophy. Finally, the last one to cross over is Twilight. He doesn't seem particularly bothered by it.]
[And that's certainly a lot of books. And a lot of interesting choices. The last of them gets an extra long look from the former cop, but he doesn't bother with asking the Mirror why.]
Come back around 5 PM and I'll have something for you.
[Why not is the answer to that particular question. Literature is literature, and he's got no bias against any written text, any film, any anything. He pays little to no attention to the reputation something carries. Deigns instead to assign his own opinions before he judges them.
And he's not exactly asking for the next book in the saga, either.
Yet.]
I very much appreciate the trouble you're going to, John. Most wouldn't bother. You're a good man.
[At 5 PM, the books are there, just as promised. Blake's collected what he thinks the Mirror might find interesting or useful (though he can't venture to guess why Dean might have needed a manual on window repair).
The collection has two more books on psychology, a book on dimensional physics (Daneel had brought it up once before in reference to Wonderland), three philosophy books (picked at random), one brand new paper-back copy of Frankenstein with a hand-written post-it stuck to the front that reads "yours to keep" in Blake's writing, and two books that Blake meant to pull from the pile: a cookbook of traditional rustic Thanksgiving recipes, and a scientific journal highlighting crocodile behavior, both in the wild as well as in captivity.
Blake isn't there, but he's left a note on the Mirror.]
If these don't work for you, let me know, and I'll try again tomorrow.
[All of the books are gone when Blake ventures past again. Every bit of them, including the Thanksgiving recipes and the crocodile behavior.
Dean will attempt to cook something from the book, and nearly set the kitchen on fire later. In the meantime, he leaves his own note scrawled on the mirror.]
John,
All of them are perfect. I'll return what I can to you tomorrow.
Mirror Writing
What sort of favor?
[Color him slightly suspicious.]

Could you return them for me if I pass them through the glass?
no subject
Absolutely. Checking anything out?
[Blake doesn't mind being the Bookmobile.]
no subject
I've already checked them out, hence why I wish to return them.
[Forgive him, he's a little rusty with slang and people offering to do nice things for him.
And also people in general.]

Oh, I see. That's very kind of you.
I would in fact appreciate that very much, the trouble is I don't... exactly know what I want without knowing the choices available to me.

heavy
